Chuck, I took your 2-day Tactical Handgun Course two weekends ago in Ft. Lauderdale and just wanted to pass along my thanks for putting together a very useful and enjoyable course. Your teaching style is absolutely superb. I found your course extremely worthwhile and would like to be notified the next time you will be teaching in our area. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tactical Rifle Course did all of the other people I talked to. I am always surprised by your understated excellence, both in the skills you teach and in the way you teach them. Three examples come to mind. First, you taught the malfunction drills at the end of the first day, but did not include Position Three stoppages, leaving them for the morning of the second day. I presume that was because we were all tired at the end of the day and Position Three clearance procedures are more difficult to learn. But by teaching one and two on the first day, you provided a basis for our subconscious minds to think about malfunctions overnight, making it easier to deal with Position Three stoppages on the morning of the second day. Second, it was helpful after we had assumed firing positions to remind us that shooting skills were also at issue -- can you guarantee your hit? And last, your method of describing control of the rifle with the middle, ring and little finger of the firing hand and control of the trigger as a pinching movement was particularly helpful. W.L. You stated that you didnt like the use of a sling on a shotgun, and gave several reasons. Well... I had to try it. When our SWAT boys feel frisky they challenge some of the patrol officers to some range competition. This includes house clearing and CQB style stuff. Failure to complete or bad shots is bad , REAL BAD ! All was going well until I got tangled up in my ninja sling in the shoot house and one of the "bad guys" almost choked me out with the damn thing. It was a real eye opener for me, and a few SWAT guys as well. At least it wasn't on the street. Once again, you were right. C.

"I am very impressed with the ASAA instructional staff. With my past experience on the faculties of two universities, I fully appreciate how difficult it is to be an effective teacher. Simply knowing the material, no matter what the level of expertise, is not enough; one can be a master, yet be incapable of passing on that mastery to the student. Comments about the Books "I am a very pleased student of Chuck Taylor's book, Combat Handgunnery: 4th Edition. Mr. Taylor's insights and research gave me irrefutable and quotable evidence into buying the correct handgun for my purpose of self defense, which turned out to be the Glock M22.
